Skills for confidently navigating Australia’s social media age restrictions (aka ban).
Prepare your tween/teen for ‘deactivation December’!
Australia’s under 16s ‘social media ban’ takes effect on December 10, 2025, and most families aren’t prepared for this significant shift.
This one-hour video session offers a collaborative, non-judgmental approach to navigating this change alongside young people impacted by it.
We’ll briefly explore why the ban exists, what’s included versus exempt, and some of the technology behind age assurance. Then we’ll jump into the key considerations for preparing young people to farewell their social media accounts, just as we head into the loooooong summer holiday break!
The focus is on the communication and problem-solving skills to help parents feel more confidence and clarity talking to tweens and teens about it.
This is a time to pause, not panic and an opportunity for all of us to reset our relationship with technology.
