Digital wellbeing to digital addiction: how device use shapes us
Deploying the technology under our skulls to help manage that in the palm of our hand can help positively shape our online experiences.
It seems most humans are semi-permanently attached to their digital devices, and there is a general lamentation of what is being lost by this hyper-connected, information-saturated era of human history.
This session will explore the emerging field of cyberpsychology and unpack the mainstream narrative around technology ‘addictions’. It will provide mental health professionals a range of insights into motivations for use of social media and video games and strategies to explore tech-use habits and its impacts with clients.
Finally, some general principles of healthful tech-use, along with principles for reducing negative impacts will be discussed.
